Happy Sunday, FemWealth Friends!
In the Spotlight ⚽️
Kara Nortman and Jasmine Robinson launched Monarch Collective, a new growth equity investment firm focused on women’s professional sports. The Miami- and Los Angeles-based firm secured $100 million for its inaugural fund.
On a mission to accelerate equity in global sport, Monarch aims to invest in teams, leagues, and adjacencies, including media platforms, products, and gaming.
“Every year, billions of dollars are being invested in the global sports ecosystem, but less than 1% is allocated to women’s sports.
And yet: women’s sports has a large, young, and engaged fan base and its revenue is growing faster than other major sports leagues.” — Kara Nortman
Prior to founding Monarch, Kara Nortman was a partner at Upfront Ventures and co-founded the LA-based women’s soccer club Angel City in 2019. Founding Partner Jasmine Robinson was an investor at Causeway and spent time in strategy operations for the San Francisco 49ers.
