Introducing FemWealth Springboard
I’m thrilled to introduce FemWealth Springboard, a new series featuring female-founded and -led early-stage tech companies and organisations. From founders’ stories to product launches, the spotlight will shine bright on some of the most brilliant entrepreneurs set to innovate how we live, work, and build a more sustainable future.
Meet Ourspace
One of my favorite companies at the moment is Ourspace, a remote company co-founded by three tech veterans - Megan Murphy (former VP of Product at Hotjar), Stephanie Bowker (former VP of Marketing at Spendesk), and Mark Allen (former Sr Engineering Manager at Glovo). Ourspace’s mission is to empower tech leaders to strategically, intentionally, and inclusively build teams that reflect the diverse people they serve.
The company has recently raised $2.5 million from Connect Ventures and Seedcamp.
Today is a special day for the team as they launch their product and onboard users for the first time. Upvote on Product Hunt and request access.
Learn more about what Ourspace is building:
What value do you bring to your customers?
We equip tech leaders to make smarter decisions on how they organise the people they have and the ones they need. Our collaborative team design canvas offers cross-functional managers a space to visually brainstorm and build their ideal team structure with clear accountability the whole company can navigate.
How do you achieve that?
The way we achieve that is three-fold:
Equipping tech leaders to better design their teams. We help you leverage key context about each person when you need it most: the moment you’re assigning them to a team (and shaping their trajectory).
Allowing managers a safe space to collaborate and weigh options. We enable tech leaders to brainstorm and assess tradeoffs of re-arranging people, teams, and ownership areas - all in one well-permissioned space with their leadership peers.
Giving everyone in the company one source of truth. On our platform, you can get an accurate map of who works on what in seconds. Any colleague can reference to navigate people, teams, and ownership areas.
Who are your ideal customers?
Long-term, we’re looking to serve all organizations where work happens in teams. Short-term we’re focused on multi-disciplinary teams in tech companies who work in a dynamic environment (with shorter tenure, hyper-scale, new product strategy, etc.). Typically, the need becomes very evident above 200 employees.
Our typical buyer is a senior leader within the tech organization (Director/Head of/VP within Engineering, Product, Growth, Design, etc.). In some organizations, this is in collaboration with their HR team.
Everyone in the company has access as an end-user to see the changes reflected in Ourspace as a source of truth to see who owns what and how to best collaborate between teams.
How did your professional background influence how you designed and developed the product?
All three of us co-founders experienced the impact of poor team design as individual contributors and then struggled as managers to improve the situation without any solution that allowed us to collaborate with our peers. This influenced us to build our product with collaboration and transparency as defaults.
As a remote-first company, we’re also designing our product to be flexible to serve a distributed workforce.
