Hey there!
This is a library of resources to help you get started on your online creator journey. I’m building it in public and adding resources regularly. A newbie myself, I am constantly learning about the Passion Economy. If you have any insights to share, reply in the comments or get in touch on Twitter.
Creating and building a community on the Internet is, like many other good things in life, a journey. How do you get started?
Here are a few steps that helped me in my creator journey:
1) Reflect on the intersection of skills, interests, experiences, aspirations, and personality traits. That is what makes you UNIQUE. The quirkier, the better. ✨
2) Take notice of the things that spark your interest and come to mind regularly. That’s your compass.
3) Find your medium. How does it feel most natural to express yourself? Is it video, audio, writing, photography, drawing, coding, etc.?
4) Experiment with different ideas and formats. What do you enjoy creating? Your community & audience will feel the positive energy 🔥
5) Pick the online platform(s) that support(s) the medium and offer(s) the best way to build a community. For writing, it could be Substack, Revue, or Ghost (you can switch easily). For video and streaming, it could be YouTube, TikTok, or Twitch. For audio, it could be Twitter Spaces or Clubhouse.
6) Start creating and publishing online.
7) Share with your family, friends, and social media connections. Join Twitter if you haven’t yet. There’s where the online creators dwell.
8) Publish regularly (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, whatever works for you).
